I love Brueggs.

I don’t like death.
This is beautiful and heartbreaking.
Fragment:
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Sentence:
“There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

St. Paul’s, my parish here in Seattle, commissioned me to document all of Holy Week for them this these past seven days. I spent Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday standing on holy ground in the midst of sacred moments. When Mother Melissa asked if I would take on the project, I was weary because I did not want to be a distraction in the midst of so much beautiful silence and stillness. Mother Melissa assured me, “I see your documenting of Holy Week for us as a part of the liturgy and not separate.” That was calming. I’ve never taken photographs in a place before where I was so consistently reassured that I wasn’t in the way but was wanted. I was a part of the process. The parishioners place a high value on documentation and art. It’s an honor to be a part of such a great community.

And scene.
Debussy for your Wednesday
Last night I spoke to college kids about beauty & image. They were a kind, thoughtful audience.
Keep wearing those pj’s everywhere while you can, college kids.
At one point in my odd faith journey I was obsessed with being right and convincing others that they were wrong. Later I realized that Jesus was so unconcerned with being right that he let the people kill him.
